Olympic Wrestling Legend Kurt Angle Launches Podcast On Westwood One – It’s True, It’s Damn True
The Kurt Angle Show Drops Sunday on the Westwood One Podcast Network with Host Conrad Thompson
NEW YORK, NY – FEBRUARY 11, 2020 – Cumulus Media’s Westwood One drops The Kurt Angle Show on Sunday with Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle and veteran podcast host Conrad Thompson. Kurt Angle is a 14-time professional wrestling world champion, with titles collected in WWE, TNA and Japan. He is in both the WWE and TNA/Impact Hall of Fames, a two-time NCAA Division 1 National Champion, and has also won a gold medal in free style wrestling at the 1996 Summer Games with, as he likes to say, ‘a broken freaking neck.’ At every stop in his career, Angle has reached the top of the mountain and now he’s taking his “Three I’s” – Intensity, Intelligence and Integrity – to the podcast world as he joins host Conrad Thompson to look back at some of the matches, feuds, and moments that turned an Olympic gold medalist into one of the greatest sports entertainers of all time.
The Kurt Angle Show drops each Sunday and is available at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, TuneIn, Pocket Casts, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music, and Pandora, among other platforms. Westwood One will monetize, market, and distribute the podcast.
“I’m so excited to be doing The Kurt Angle Show podcast in partnership with Westwood One. I will be talking about my life, my career in Olympic and Pro Wrestling, and my struggles with addiction,” said Angle. “Listeners will also hear fascinating stories firsthand from my guests. My hope is this podcast not only inspires but teaches others to not make the mistakes I’ve made and to go after their own goals and dreams. This is my opportunity to give back to my fans, the people who have stuck with me through good and bad times. Gonna be epic. It’s true.”
“Kurt has long been considered one of the very best performers in the history of the industry but what fascinates me even more is his personal story,” said Thompson. “He overcame so much adversity, both in and out of the ring, that his story is unlike anyone else’s. This won’t just be a ‘wrestling podcast.’ This will be a very personal look at triumph, tragedy, overcoming the odds, and willing success.”
“Conrad has built a strong network of wrestling shows that we’re proud to represent and distribute across the Westwood One Podcast Network. Each show has its own point of view, and the wrestling audience loves them all,” said Suzanne Grimes, said Suzanne Grimes, EVP Marketing at Cumulus Media and president of Westwood One. “Kurt is an Olympic star with a large and adoring fan base. With podcast listener numbers surging, it is the ideal time to bring these two together and give them a mic.”
