CMA Honors Helton for the 11^th Time

NEW YORK – October 18, 2021 – CUMULUS MEDIA’s Westwood One today announced that“Country Countdown USA”host Lon Helton was honored with the “Broadcast Personality of the Year” Award for a Weekly National Show by the Country Music Association. The winners were announced in advance of the 55^th Annual CMA Awards Show to be held November 10, 2021, in Nashville. 

The Country Music Association Awards (CMAs) recognize outstanding country music artists and broadcasters.

About Lon Helton 

Lon Helton’s country radio career began in 1971. He spent 12 years as both personality and programmer in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Denver, and was Country Editor of Radio & Records for 23 years before founding Country Aircheck. Helton is a member of the Board of Directors of the Country Music Association, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the National Corvette Museum; and was named CMA “National Personality of the Year” in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020. In 2009, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018, he won that honor from the Academy of Country Music. Helton was inducted into the Country Radio DJ Hall of Fame in 2006 and is country radio’s best known star interviewer.
