Cumulus Detroit’s 760 WJR Joins The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit to Raise Nearly $1.9 Million to Help the Area’s Hungry and Homeless
The Annual Bed & Bread Club Radiothon Has Raised More Than $43.1 Million Since Dick Purtan’s First Radiothon in 1988
Donation Milestone Achieved Through Bed & Bread Program Partner Ford Motor Company Fund
DETROIT, MI – February 28, 2023 — Cumulus Media (NASDAQ: CMLS) announces that its Detroit News/Talk station 760 WJR raised $1,888,503 to help The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit combat hunger and homelessness in Metro Detroit through the 36th Annual Bed & Bread Club Radiothon on Thursday, February 23rd, and Friday, February 24th. The 27-hour radio fundraiser, organized by Ron Smerigan, Director, Media Integration, Cumulus Detroit, aired on 760 WJR and featured 760 WJR on-air personalities Radio Hall of Famer Paul W. Smith, Sean Baligian, Marie Osborne, Tom Jordan, Chris Renwick, Lloyd Jackson, Mitch Albom, Ken Brown, Steve Courtney, Guy Gordon, and Bed & Bread Club Founder and Radio Hall of Famer Dick Purtan, broadcasting from The Salvation Army Great Lakes Divisional Headquarters in Southfield.
The Bed & Bread Club Radiothon has raised a total of more than $43.1 Million over the life of the Radiothon. The Bed & Bread trucks bring meals to more than 3,500 Detroiters each day and all money raised during the Radiothon will go toward that mission.
The Radiothon also featured appearances from special guests who encouraged the community to donate and help those who are hungry and homeless in metro Detroit. Michigan natives Tim Allen and Terry Crews also joined business and civic leaders to show their support of The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit. Among the many generous contributions are:
