Cumulus Media “Your Music Plus” Audio Feature Lights Up Fontaines D.C. Single, “Starburster” on Cumulus’ Alternative Stations Across the U.S.
ATLANTA, GA – July 8, 2024 — Cumulus Media (NASDAQ: CMLS) announces the launch today ofthe latest installment of its exclusive multi-part audio series, Your Music Plus, featuring stories behind the making of Irish post-punk band Fontaines D.C.’s new single, “Starburster.” The song hails from the Dublin-made, now London-based band’s upcoming album, Romance, on XL Recordings. The Your Music First audio campaign will air on Cumulus Media’s Alternative stations across the U.S. over the next eight weeks.
In “Starburster,” Fontaines D.C.’s poetic lyrics are punctuated by vocalist Grian Chatten’s sharp, feral intakes of breath, inspired by a panic attack he had in St. Pancras railway station in London. The song’s propulsive beat and unrelenting lyrics establish self-destruction as fantasy.
Greg Frey, VP of Music Partnerships, Cumulus Media, said: “Fontaines D.C.’s new song, “Starburster” shows the band expanding their sound with cinematic lyrics and deeper wells of art rock, hip hop beats, electronica and more. Coupling that with exclusive audio from lyricist Grian Chattenabout the making of “Starburster” and how a panic attack ended up changing the whole song makes this a really special installment of Your Music Plus. We’re excited to partner with XL Recordings and Beggars Group to bring this to our listeners.”
Your Music Plus highlights new music in a unique way by sharing with radio listeners the thoughts of the biggest stars in different formats in a series of revealing and exclusive vignettes across AC, Alternative, CHR, Country, Hot AC, Rock and Urban formats. The shows feature artist commentary on the song, with artists presenting different aspects of their song’s personal meaning, the inspiration behind the music, and insights on their life and career.
